The future of Yu-Gi-Oh! online
Duel Accelerator Stuff. The future of Yu-Gi-Oh! online
by V3rT » 2:19 pm Tue Jan 19, 2010
There could be some big changes ahead for the Yu-Gi-Oh! online community, as it looks like the new Duel Accelerator game is going to be the 1st yugi game to truely go multi-platform. With new versions coming for PC, Xbox, PS3 and DS, what will this mean for our community as it is now?

Should we be worried?
I think firstly there are several questions that probably need answering before speculating too much. As some people have asked "will the games be linked"? Meaning will they be hosted on konami servers where we can all play as one mega community OR, will the servers be hosted on their own seperate networks like it is currently with all multi-platform games?
Unfortunately it's pretty safe to assume that the latter is going to be the case. And the community as we know may change quite considerably with it more than likely becoming even more fragmented as players choose a system of preference.
Will console players even have to play the DP/BP game with konami at all?
Perhaps dueling will be free on xbox and ps3 just it is with the DS versions?
What would happen to the current PC online community?
Would it grow or fragment?
What are your thoughts?

I don't think these games will be connected on the same server because of the differences of how each console runs, compared to a PC. So I don't think there will be a change. Seeing as to how the DS can't handle connecting to a server and downloading the information there to know which cards the player has, although I doubt the 360/PS3 will have this problem, there shouldn't be a connection that can occur with players on a DS and players using the PC. I don't think the 360, PS3, and DS versions will be able to part take in what goes on for the PC versions. I don't believe that Yugioh Online Duel Accelerator will be the first game ever that was able to connect those with different game consoles into playing one single game.
If however I am wrong, this game will take a turn for the worst. Seeing as how it will come on the 360, PS3 and DS, "cheat codes" will be involved as this gives people with the ability to hack the game configuration to produce whatever they want, such as instant win. This will give easy access to those who hack the game easy event cards.

Hacking will all depend on whether profiles are stored locally (client side) or on the respective game systems server (server side).
If they are stored on the server then cheats will be next to impossible just like the PC version.

Unfortunately, it's difficult for me to tell because the image is blurry. Do you have an image with a clearer resolution?

Simple answer to this is No we won't all be one Mega Community as to play on the Xbox 360 you must play through Microsofts Live network, or on PS3 you have to play through the Playstation network, there is more likely to be integration on the Playstation or DS fronts than there is on the 360, But I can safely say I will not be playing it on My PS3. The PC version is all we need, and as you all see with the exception of the DS games YuGiOh Card battle games on consoles generally bomb out big time. I see this as a bad thing, they should focus on one PC version and promote and maintain it properly rather than bringing it out on multiple platforms. Granted it is good that more people would play, but with YO3 anyone with the most basic of laptops and a broadband connection can safely play YO3.
Also on the Payment front, I'm sure they will make the console players pay somehow, especially MS as they geta cut from every sale they make on the Live Marketplace.

we will just have to wait and see. But there is no reason why they could not just make a port of the exisiting program for the ps3 and xbox and then pay sony etc a license fee.....
